Urbanization has compelled people from various nooks and corner of the country to move to the capital city, Delhi. The present population in Delhi is 1.7 lakhs, of which Delhi Development Authority can accommodate only 1.5 crore people. To add more to the grieved situation, it is expected the population will go up by 80 lakh by the end of the year 2022. DDA has therefore come up with a mission ‘Housing for all by 2022’ under Master Plan Delhi-2021.
The repercussions followed after urbanization are not always positive. On one hand it leads to growth and development but on the other hand, it contributes significantly towards inflation. The realty sector of the capital city has registered sky rocketing prices. People from various walks of life are fighting a survival battle without any shelter. Not everybody can afford expensive spaces. Affordable Housing Scheme is necessary to provide shelter to economically weaker section of the society.
The Revanta Multistage Housing Society has come up with Delhi AawasYojana. The project will have 300 units. People can now purchase a house in Delhi at an easy cost of Rs 18, 00,000 lakh. The allotment of the project will made by the method of ‘draw’. All one needs to do is fill up a form which costs Rs 500. Keeping in mind, the status of women in Delhi, the scheme encourages women empowerment. Around 33% of the housing units have been reserved for women. The registration no. of Delhi AawasYojana is MSCS/C8/1049/2014.
